Study Tools for the Works of Mary Baker Eddy

"Read this book from beginning to end. Study it, ponder it." - Mary Baker Eddy

As of today, I only know of three software tools available to search and study the writings of Mary Baker Eddy.  These are, Concord, The Ark and a web tool found at spirituality.com.  Each one of these tools provides a different level of capabilities for the user.

Concord
The Concord software package is published by The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts, also called The Mother Church. It is an excellent tool which includes both Mary Baker Eddy's published writings as well as the Bible.  There is a very informative link about the software on the Mother Church's website here.

The version of Concord which is being sold today is fairly new and supports both Windows and Mac operating systems and also is accessible via the web through a subscription which comes with the purchase of the software.  It was released in late 2009 and is still version 1.0.  If you are a serious user of the software and would like to provide feedback to the team managing its development, you can find a useful page where you can ask questions, find video tutorials and get support here.

There were three earlier versions of Concord which were released by the Christian Science Publishing Society.  The first version was a DOS version for the PC published in the late 80's. There was also a Macintosh version published in the early 90's and a Windows version published in the mid 90's.  These earlier versions were never updated and there are issues with supporting them on the current operating systems of today.  If you used some of these older versions, the new version is different, but useable.  I would say that 90% of the features you had in the older version are in the new "1.0" software.  The lastest version has some new tricks up its sleeve which are helpful for the study of the books.  Please check out my Concord page to learn more.

The Ark
The Ark software package is a collection of Christian Science publications which are available in the public domain.  This software has been developed by Ark Publications LLC, and is not affiliated with The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston nor The Christian Science Publishing Society.  In addition to the texts contained in the Concord software package, The Ark software also includes the 1828 and 1913 Webster's Dictionaries as well as Christian Science Periodicals published prior to 1922.

The Ark software package is supported for both Windows and Mac computers and also is accessible via the web.  In late 2010 a version 2.0 software update was released.  For those who purchased version 1.0, there is an available upgrade.  This software is available through either the Longyear Foundation or the Biblos Foundation.  Please check out my page on The Ark to learn more about the software.

Spirituality.com
The tool found on the Spirituality.com website is a very basic word search tool for two of the books written by Mary Baker Eddy; Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, and Retrospection and Introspection.  The website includes a link to the online Merriam-Webster dictionary for looking up words.  If you don't have access to the tools mentioned above, this site is a good alternative for a quick lookup.
